Who elects the President of the European Commission, and by what majority?
One question, three languages. Pick an answer.
The Commission’s internal competitions and EPSO’s AD5 graduate competition both set a 30-question EU knowledge test. The rules differ, so every mock here lets you choose the rules you will face.
Thirty questions each, on the clock. Choose Commission rules (forward-only, an answer required to move on) or EPSO rules (flag and return), and AD or AST timing.
Every question exists in English, French and German, translated from the official language versions of the texts it rests on. Practise in your language 2, then check a hard question in your own.
Each answer shows the sentence it comes from, the document and its date: a Treaty article, the Commission’s Rules of Procedure, a regulation, a Commission communication.
The test only uses publications from before your competition’s application period opened. Every question carries its source’s date, so you never learn a fact the examiners cannot ask.
Short sets by area: institutions, the Commission’s governance and budget, the 2024-2029 priorities, EU policies and history, and a drill for “which is NOT” questions.
538 high-yield facts with their sources. Candidates remember topics well and numbers badly, and wrong options are built from real numbers that belong somewhere else.
Take the 30-question free test with no payment details. If it helps, one payment opens everything for 90 days. Nothing renews.

Free guides to the test, the Treaties and the Commission’s priorities, in three languages.
The format, the scoring, the cut-off date, the rank that decides whether your written test is read, and a strategy for the clock.
In the Commission’s internal competitions: the EU’s institutional set-up, the Commission’s roles and powers under the Treaties, its governance, decision-making and procedures (budget and human resources included), and its 2024-2029 policy priorities. EPSO’s AD5 test covers the EU, its institutions, procedures and main policies, against a source list EPSO publishes about two months before.
Yes. Every question, option, explanation and source is available in English, French and German, and you can switch at any time. Internal competitions are sat in language 2, which must be English, French or German.
In internal competitions, only public official sources published before the start of the competition’s application period. For AD5 (COM/AD/108/2026) that was 29 May 2026. Every question here carries its source’s date.
No. The knowledge test and its content belong to the European Commission or EPSO. In 2026 the Commission’s test is delivered on a platform run by SHL. This site has no connection to the Commission, EPSO or SHL.
The free test is 30 questions drawn at random from the bank each time you start it, so no two are alike. The full mocks are fixed papers balanced across every area, which you can retake and compare.
A private one. Preparation is a private activity, and staff are advised not to use their work address for competition matters.
No. One payment buys 90 days of access and then it simply ends. You are never charged again unless you choose to buy again.
